Medical tourism in Armenia's national tourism strategy
Government Decision No. 30-L of 8 January 2026 approved the 2026–2030 Strategic Plan for Tourism Development of the Republic of Armenia, which identifies medical and wellness tourism as a developing area of the sector with strong growth prospects. Development of the sector is coordinated across the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy and the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs, which in August 2024 established a joint framework for the development of medical tourism in Armenia.
The Memorandum of Understanding
MEDam.com is operated by MED.AM LLC under a Memorandum of Understanding with the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia, dated 6 May 2026 and in effect for a one-year term, renewable. The MOU reflects a broader national effort to connect healthcare, tourism, and diaspora-related services for patients traveling to Armenia for care. Under that MOU, MEDam works in coordination with the Tourism Committee to support those standards, to onboard providers and vendors that meet them, and to share platform data on medical tourism. The Memorandum does not make MEDam an agent of any government body, and no government body reviews, approves or endorses any individual doctor or medical facility listed on MEDam.com. Learn more
Ministry of Economy
The Tourism Committee of Armenia's Ministry of Economy supports the tourism side of the patient journey, including coordination with Armenia's tourism sector and integration of travel-related services.
Ministry of Health
Medical tourism standards for participating providers sit within the joint framework established in August 2024 by the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Economy and the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs. MEDam.com's provider review process is designed to align with those standards. MEDam.com works closely with the Ministry of Health.
Diaspora
MEDam.com engages with the Office of the High Commissioner for Diaspora Affairs to help connect international patients, including members of the Armenian diaspora, with information, language support, and services in Armenia.
The goal of this cooperation is to support a digital platform accessible to patients around the world seeking affordable medical care in Armenia.
Government directives accelerating MEDam.com
Beyond the MOU, two government directives were issued in 2024 to fast-track onboarding of service providers onto MEDam.com, followed by the Government's 2026 decision formalizing the national tourism program.
Ministry of Health
Directive to hospitals and doctors to expedite onboarding onto the MEDam.com platform.
Ministry of Economy
Directive issued to hotels to accelerate onboarding onto the platform ahead of the tourism integration.
Government of Armenia

As of August 2026, 50+ doctors and 18 Medical Facilities have completed MEDam.com's multi-stage review process ahead of public launch.
