Why Armenia?
Armenia is developing its medical and wellness tourism sector. The Government’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan for Tourism Development identifies medical and wellness tourism as a developing area of the sector with strong growth prospects. For travelers, that means receiving care in a country actively committed to welcoming international patients.
How is MEDam.com affiliated with the Government of Armenia?

MEDam.com has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Armenia on the development of medical tourism in Armenia. Under the MOU, MEDam.com works in coordination with the Tourism Committee to support quality standards, onboard reviewed facilities and doctors, and grow medical tourism. The MOU does not make MEDam.com an agent of any government body, and no government body reviews, approves or endorses any individual doctor or Medical Facility listed on MEDam.com. Learn more

Are the Medical Facilities licensed?
The Medical Facilities listed on MEDam.com are licensed by the Ministry of Health of Armenia. We review each facility’s license at onboarding and link to it on the facility’s page. Note that we do not monitor license status continuously.
Are the doctors listed on the platform licensed?
Yes. Before any doctor appears on MEDam.com, we review their diploma and accreditation status, specialty credentials, disciplinary history and relevant legal or regulatory records, where such information is available from official, governmental, regulatory, judicial or other reliable sources. This review is based on available information and does not constitute independent verification or a guarantee of any doctor’s qualifications or credentials.
What else do you check before a doctor or facility is listed?

In addition to the licensing by the Ministry of Health of Armenia, MEDam.com applies a review process of each Medical Facility and each of the doctor’s credentials.

After a Medical Facility expresses interest in joining the platform, MEDam.com conducts an institutional assessment and, where feasible, an on-site visit or other facility review. If the Medical Facility is approved, the Medical Facility’s chief medical officer / administrator provides MEDam.com with a list of recommended doctors. MEDam.com requests that these doctors complete a professional profile. The MEDam.com team performs a final credential review and only then may approve a doctor for listing.

How are criteria set?

Dr. Gevorg Yaghjyan, our Chief Medical Officer, is an MD, PhD, and board-certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon certified in Armenia in 1997. He completed a research fellowship at Yale School of Medicine and USMLE Steps 1 & 2. He has taught at Harvard and Yale and authored 137 scientific publications. Review criteria are developed with input from our Chief Medical Officer and are applied by MEDam.com. Listing decisions, including whether a Medical Facility or doctor is listed, are made by MEDam.com as a platform. A listing on MEDam.com is not a personal endorsement, recommendation, or clinical opinion of any individual or facility, and MEDam.com does not assume responsibility for the care a listed Medical Facility delivers. Learn more

Can I see examples of a doctor’s work before I book?
Yes. Doctors submit before-and-after procedure portfolios, and these images are in each doctor’s profile, if available. Before-and-after images are supplied and published by the treating doctor or the medical facility. The doctor or facility is responsible for obtaining the depicted patient’s prior, written, specific opt-in consent to publication, and for the accuracy of what is shown. MEDam.com does not independently verify these images and does not confirm that an image depicts the patient or procedure it is presented as showing. Outcomes shown are individual to the patient depicted. Individual results vary, and no image is a prediction or guarantee of any result.
Why don’t I see reviews on MEDam.com?
Reviews are not live yet. Rather than publish reviews that did not come from real patients, we are starting from zero: we will collect reviews from patients. We are just starting so here’s how we anticipate it will work. Only customers who completed a booking through MEDam.com can submit a review, so every review comes from a verified patient. MEDam.com does not verify the content of a review. Reviews are the personal opinions of individual patients and do not reflect MEDam.com’s views. By default, a review is published under the patient’s initials only, unless they choose to publish their full name.
Who do I contact if I have a medical problem while I am in Armenia?

For a life-threatening medical emergency, contact the local emergency ambulance service at 103 or 911 (English speakers often available) or go to the nearest hospital with an emergency department. See here. Non-emergency questions during your stay in Armenia should go to your Medical Facility or treating doctor as your first point of contact for your care and for your post-operative instructions.

Contact MEDam.com for questions about the platform, your booking, or transport arrangements, by reaching us at support@medam.com. MEDam.com does not provide medical services or emergency medical assistance. MEDam.com is a platform, not a healthcare provider, and does not deliver medical services or make medical decisions.

Should I discuss my treatment with my home-country doctor?

We recommend that before finalizing your booking, you discuss the risks, expected recovery, and any follow-up or revision protocols that may apply to your procedure with your doctor in your home country. Medical advice, follow-up care, revision recommendations, and treatment decisions remain the responsibility of your treating doctor. Learn more

How does this work with my existing insurance?
MEDam.com does not interact with or process claims through your home-country health insurance. Patients are responsible for confirming any insurance coverage independently.
Do the doctors and facilities carry medical malpractice insurance?
While medical malpractice liability insurance is available in the Republic of Armenia, it is not standard practice and most Medical Facilities and doctors listed on MEDam.com do not carry it. MEDam.com does not verify whether any Medical Facility or doctor carries such insurance, and you should not assume that any of them does. If you have a claim arising out of the medical services you receive, you would pursue it directly against the medical facility or the doctor. We strongly recommend obtaining travel and medical insurance that covers treatment abroad, and checking what it does and does not cover before you travel.
What happens if I need additional post-op care while still in Armenia?

Whether post-op care is available, on what conditions, and at whose cost is set by your agreement with your Medical Facility. Ask your doctor before you travel what their fees do and do not cover, what conditions apply, and for how long. Most often asked questions are:

  • what post-op visits, dressings, medications, and check-ins are included in your quoted price
  • how long post-op care is covered, and what triggers additional charges
  • who to contact after hours, and how quickly a response is expected
  • the plan if complications arise (readmission, extended stay, additional tests)
  • whether pain-management or take-home medications are included
What happens if I want a revision?

A revision (in other words, additional work to modify or correct the result of a completed procedure) is normally considered a new procedure and is arranged separately.

Some Medical Facilities include a revision policy in their original fee (for example, a defined window during which certain revisions are performed at reduced or no additional cost). Ask your doctor before you travel:

  • whether they offer a revision policy, on what conditions, and for how long
  • what qualifies as a revision (e.g., healing outcome, surgical complication) versus a new procedure
  • how the revision decision is made, and whether it must be performed by the original doctor
  • what travel and accommodation costs would apply to a revision visit

If you seek a revision through MEDam.com, you book it as a new procedure with a new video consultation, standard payment terms. The original Medical Facility and doctor may or may not be available, and revision eligibility is a medical decision made by the Medical Facility and doctor. MEDam.com does not guarantee revision treatment with the same doctor or on any timeline, and does not fund or reimburse revision procedures, travel, or accommodation.

What if I want additional care after I return home?

Care you receive from a doctor in your home country is arranged and paid for by you. MEDam.com does not provide medical services and does not fund, arrange, or reimburse treatment, travel, or follow-up care.

Before you leave the Medical Facility, ask for copies of your operative report, imaging, discharge instructions, travel instructions and restrictions, prescriptions, and a short summary letter for your home doctor. Ask for translated copies if available.

If your home doctor has questions for your treating doctor, ask your treating doctor if you may share his/her contact details directly as the professional-to-professional conversation is usually fastest.

What if my doctor cancels or determines I am not a suitable candidate?

If your doctor cancels, or concludes during consultation that the procedure is not clinically appropriate for you, MEDam.com will contact you to discuss options, including rebooking where possible. Whether a deposit is refundable in these circumstances depends on the timing and circumstances and is set out in our Terms of Service. Travel and accommodation costs you have already incurred are not the responsibility of MEDam.com.

Will I receive copies of my medical records?
Your medical records are created and held by your Medical Facility, who is responsible for them. Before discharge, ask your Medical Facility for copies of your operative report, imaging, discharge instructions, and any prescriptions, and whether translated copies are available. Sharing these with your doctor at home may assist with follow-up care. MEDam.com does not hold, translate, or provide Medical Facility medical records.
Can I speak with my doctor before I travel?
Yes. You can schedule a video consultation with your doctor, complete the pre-treatment screening questionnaire, and finalize your procedure and treatment plan together, all before you commit to traveling. Communications are handled through the MEDam.com platform to help protect patient privacy and safety. MEDam.com cannot monitor or take responsibility for any communications that occur outside the platform.
How is my personal and medical information protected?
Your doctor is the intended recipient of the medical information you share during your consultation(s). Video consultations take place in a single-use, locked video room. The call is not recorded by MEDam.com or by the video platform. Anything you type or share during the call passes through the video platform and is deleted shortly after the call ends. MEDam.com personnel do not access, view, or review the medical information you share with your doctor, unless the information is provided by you to MEDam.com specifically (e.g., treatments you want to undergo or questionnaires you complete on our Platform). Your doctor is responsible for the medical advice, diagnosis, treatment recommendations, and medical records related to your care. Your pre-treatment screening questionnaire is collected on behalf of your treating doctor and Medical Facility and is used only to pass to them. It is permanently deleted when your treatment is complete or your booking is cancelled or expires; if you would like a copy for your own records, download it from your dashboard before then.
Will my doctor and the facility staff speak English?
Each doctor profile lists the languages the doctor has reported speaking. Language support varies by Medical Facility, doctor, and individual facility staff member. Interpretation services are not arranged by MEDam.com but can be available. If language is important to you, raise it on your video consultation and confirm with your Medical Facility what support will be available during your stay.
Who is Ani, and am I talking to a real person?

Ani is MEDam.com’s virtual assistant, also referred to as our Concierge. She is an AI assistant and not a real person. She is here to help you find and book a procedure and to answer questions about the platform, the treatments, the doctors and the destination.

Please don’t tell Ani anything that is considered sensitive information, including information about your health. Anything clinical belongs with your doctor when you speak with him/her directly on your video consultation.

If you would rather talk to a person about the platform itself, our email is support@medam.com.

Can Ani give me medical advice?

No, and Ani is designed to avoid doing so. Ani will not interpret symptoms, suggest a diagnosis, tell you whether a procedure is right for you, or advise for or against treatment.

Please do not tell Ani anything about your medical situation or history or provide any other sensitive or personal information about yourself. You will be prompted to provide this information only if, and when, this becomes relevant for your treatment. Medical advice should only be requested from, and given to you by, the doctor that you select to undergo a treatment with.

What Ani can do is explain what a procedure generally involves, show you which doctors on MEDam.com perform it, and help you get a video consultation scheduled, where your doctor answers the clinical questions properly.

How does Ani decide which doctors to show me? Can doctors pay to be recommended?

No one can buy their way up. MEDam.com does not accept payment for placement in Concierge results or in search results, and there are no sponsored listings. On the doctor’s page and in search results, doctors are listed alphabetically by surname; in the default view they are grouped into sections by specialty, and those sections appear in a fixed order that does not reflect clinical quality, outcomes, popularity or payment. Ani’s suggestions come from objective catalogue facts: the procedures a doctor offers and their listed prices, their specialty and facility, the languages they have reported speaking, the doctor’s own profile information, and certification status. Doctor gender is used only if you tell Ani that you have a preference. Ani presents the matches it assesses to be closest to your request first. That assessment is made only on the factors just listed and carries no other significance. It does not reflect clinical quality, outcomes, ratings, popularity or payment. Ani does not rank doctors on clinical quality or outcomes. Because Ani generates its answer each time you ask, the matches and the order in which they appear may differ if you ask the same question again. A suggestion from Ani is a search result, not a medical referral or an endorsement, and choosing your doctor remains your decision. Learn more

Is what I type to Ani private?
MEDam.com does not store the content of your assistant conversations; we record only non-content facts about each exchange (such as that a conversation occurred, and technical usage measures) for service operation and cost accounting. Please do not include any sensitive or medical information in assistant messages. Ani does not provide medical advice, and anything medically relevant should be discussed with your doctor. The messages you type will be transmitted to our AI service provider (located in the United States) solely to generate the assistant’s responses. Your messages will not be used by our AI service provider to train their AI model.
Can Ani book my consultation or take a payment?
No. Ani can prepare a booking for you, filling in the doctor, the procedure, and the price on a booking card, but only you can act on it. Reserving a slot, authorizing a nominal card-validation hold, and confirming your booking all happen on the pages that follow, with you in control at every step. Chatting with Ani is free, and no MEDam.com charge is ever initiated from a conversation. However, a nominal card-validation hold will be placed on your payment method to verify the validity of your payment method. This is an authorization hold, not a charge: no amount is debited, although the hold may temporarily reduce your available credit. The hold will be released if you do not proceed with the booking, and release timing may depend on your bank or card issuer and is outside of MEDam.com’s control.
How accurate is what Ani tells me?
Ani answers from the MEDam.com catalog, the same doctors, procedures, and prices you see across the site, and is built to say plainly when something is not listed rather than guess. Prices come from a Medical Facility’s / doctor’s own listed offerings. A price in chat is the listed price, not your final quote: your doctor confirms the procedure, the plan, and the final price with you on your video consultation. Like any AI, Ani can occasionally get something wrong. You should confirm anything that shapes your decision with your doctor on the call.
How much can I save compared to the U.S. or Europe?
Patients can save considerably compared with comparable elective care in the U.S. and E.U. Actual savings will vary by procedure, facility, doctor, and individual treatment plan. Naturally, you have to factor in the added travel expense as an offset.
Is the price I’m quoted the price I pay?
Once you have made a booking, the price for the procedure as booked is fixed and cannot be increased. Additional charges may apply only for services outside the booked procedure (for example a change to your treatment plan that becomes medically necessary, additional tests, an extended stay, a room upgrade, or treatment for complications). Any change must be disclosed to you and approved by you before it is charged.
What is included in the price I am quoted?
What a listed price covers is set by your Medical Facility and varies by procedure. Depending on the Medical Facility, it may or may not include for example consultations, anesthesia, laboratory work, implants or materials, facility or overnight stay, private room requests, medications, garments, and post-operative visits. Ask your doctor to confirm on your video consultation exactly what is included and what would be billed separately. Travel, accommodation, and any care you receive outside your Medical Facility are not included.
What does it cost to use MEDam.com?
MEDam charges a platform fee of 3% of the procedure price. Every price on the site is shown with a “+3% platform fee” note, and the fee is calculated and shown in full before you confirm anything. There are no other MEDam charges. Third-party fees, such as bank or currency-conversion charges, are outside MEDam’s control.
How do payments work?
After an initial deposit of 10% of the procedure price paid online through our secure portal, your balance is due directly to the Medical Facility on discharge following completion of your procedure. The deposit consists of a 3% platform fee and a 7% facility deposit, and is non-refundable if you cancel. MEDam will give at least 30 days’ notice of any increase to the platform fee, and any change applies only to bookings made after it takes effect.
What currency will I pay in?
Prices on the site are listed in AMD, but you have the option of viewing the amount in USD, Euro or Russian Ruble. Your deposit is processed in AMD through our payment portal. Your bank or card issuer may apply its own conversion rate and fees, which MEDam.com does not set or control. Arrangements for paying the balance are made with your Medical Facility in AMD, and we suggest confirming the accepted methods and currency conversion rates with them before you travel.
What happens if I cancel?

If you cancel a confirmed booking, the 10% deposit is not refunded. There are three exceptions, in which the 7% facility deposit is refunded and the 3% platform fee is not: a Force Majeure event, your doctor becoming unavailable, or a health emergency that prevents you from travelling to your appointment. The balance of the procedure price is collected at the facility on discharge, so no amount beyond the deposit can be lost. Full terms are in our Terms of Service.

What happens to my deposit if my visa is rejected?
Obtaining any required visas or travel authorizations is your responsibility. If you need a visa and your visa application is denied or delayed for any reason, such circumstance shall be treated as a Customer-initiated cancellation, and the applicable cancellation and refund rules apply.
How do I get from the airport to my hotel and my medical appointments?
Ground transport between the airport and your accommodation, and between your accommodation and the Medical Facility, can be provided by our transport partner at no extra cost to you. Details of the arrangements will be sent to you before you arrive. These services are subject to availability and may be varied or withdrawn. MEDam.com does not operate transport services.
When will my procedure take place after I arrive?
Your in-person appointment at the medical facility comes first. At that appointment you are examined, you sign your treatment contract and consent documents with the medical facility, and your procedure is scheduled. Your medical facility will work to schedule your procedure within three business days of that appointment, depending on your medical clearance, the medical facility’s availability, and circumstances outside its control. This is a commitment from your medical facility, not from MEDam.com. The three business days run from your appointment, not from your booking. Do not plan your trip on the assumption that your procedure will fall on a particular day. Allow time for the appointment, the procedure, and the recovery your doctor recommends, before you book your flights. And remember, business days do not include Armenian national holidays.
What will I sign when I arrive?

At your in-person appointment you will sign your treatment contract with the medical facility and your informed consent documents. These are agreements between you and the medical facility and MEDam.com is not a party to them. You have the right to read them carefully, to ask questions, to request more time, and to seek independent legal or medical advice before signing. You should not sign anything you do not understand or do not agree with. If the terms differ materially from what was disclosed when you booked, you may withdraw, and the refund provisions in our Terms of Service apply. If you would like to see the facility’s standard contract and consent documents before you travel, ask us and we will request them. Facilities are required to maintain this documentation in English..

How long should I plan to stay in Armenia?
Length of stay depends on your procedure, your recovery, and your doctor’s post-operative instructions, including any guidance about when it may be appropriate to fly. Your doctor is the right source for this, and we suggest confirming it on your video consultation before booking travel and at the time of your procedure. Allowing additional time can help if your doctor recommends a follow-up visit or further action before you depart.
Can I bring someone with me?
Many patients travel with a companion. Airport greeting and transport arrangements are coordinated for the patient, so if you are traveling with someone, please tell us in advance and we will ask whether the arrangement can accommodate them. Your companion’s travel, accommodation, visa requirements, and insurance are arranged and paid for by you. Whether a companion may be present at the facility is decided by the Medical Facility.
Can I book travel and hotels on MEDam.com?

Not yet! We expect to begin listing recovery-friendly hotels on MEDam.com from the fourth quarter of 2026, and tour and activity partners during 2027. Those dates are current expectations rather than commitments and may change. How those bookings will work will be set out when the feature launches. For now, once your procedure is confirmed, you can begin arranging your travel plans. Learn more

Do you handle visas or travel insurance?
MEDam.com does not arrange visas or travel insurance. Patients are responsible for confirming visa requirements, obtaining appropriate travel insurance, and meeting any entry requirements for the Republic of Armenia. We recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers medical treatment abroad.
Can I leave a review?
Soon, but not yet! We want your review after your treatment and will launch that feature soon.
What if I have a complaint about my Medical Facility or doctor?

Please tell us at support@medam.com. MEDam.com can pass your concerns to the appropriate parties and take them into account in reviewing whether that Medical Facility and/or doctor remain listed on the platform. MEDam.com is not able to resolve clinical disputes, direct a Medical Facility’s care, or determine liability. Claims relating to medical treatment are between you and your treating Medical Facility and doctor and are subject to the laws and forums that apply to that treatment. The terms governing your use of MEDam.com, including dispute resolution, are set out in our Terms of Service.
